2      2014-15:
      Jointly  with Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai, the department has conducted the 50th A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition for I, II & III B.A. (HEP, S.W. & HET)  and M.A. (Economics) students on   20th September, 2014.

2015-16


On July 6th 2015 we have arranged a Guest Lecture for B.A  and M.A students of economics on “Globalisation  - Impact on Indian Economy”. The  resource person is Dr. S.Subbalakshmi ,Senior Faculty , Sri Medha Institutions.

On 19th & 20th August 2015 , with a view to educate the students in various dimensions the department has organized a ‘Leadership Training Camp for college students in collaboration with M.R. Pai foundation , Mumbai


On 22nd September, 2015 we have arranged a Guest Lecture for  B.A students of economics on “MAKE IN INDIA”. The   resource person is Dr.D. Paparao garu .

On 29th September 2015 Jointly with Forum Of Free Enterprise, Mumbai , the Department of Economics has conducted The 51st  A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition .



The Department of economics Organised  an Inter Collegiate Competitions    on     22  - 1 -2016 .
Conducted  ELOCUTION , ESSAY WRITING , QUIZ , POSTER MAKING AND PAPER PRESENTATIONS competitions to college students.


2016-17


On 15th September 2016 Jointly with Forum Of Free Enterprise, Mumbai , the Department of Economics has conducted The 52nd  A.D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition .

·        In December  2016 we have arranged a Guest Lecture for B.A  and M.A. students of economics on “Indian Economy – A Panoramic View”. The  resource person is Dr. P. Andrew,Retired Principal, A.C.College, Guntur.

On 9th December 2016 students of IIIBA  and M.A. final, visited KCP Cement .Macherla and Nagarjuna sagar dam. which was financially supported by UGC.

INPUT OF THE TOUR
   Industry visits sensitize students to the practical challenges that organizations face in the business world. Industrial visits also give greater clarity about various management concepts for students as they can practically see how these concepts are put into action.
       Visits to manufacturing firms are useful for students. to understand the nuances and realities of the shopfloor, which in itself is a rare exposure. By visiting the shop floor they get to understand the risky conditions in which workers work, the people management challenges involved in managing workers  apart from getting hands-on technical knowledge.
Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a student who is pursuing a professional degree. It is considered as a part of college curriculum.

 Objectives of industrial visit
To provide students an insight regarding internal working of companies.
 Theoretical knowledge is not enough for making a good professional career.
With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit provides student a practical perspective on the world of work.
It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices.
 It gives them exposure to current work practices as opposed to possibly theoretical knowledge being taught at college.
 Industrial visits provide an excellent opportunity to interact with industries and know more about industrial environment.
 Industrial visits are arranged by colleges to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunity in different sector.
 Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge.
Industrial realities are opened to the students through industrial visits.

KCP  AT MACHERLA AND NAGARJUNA SAGAR DAM

                 KCP’s Cement Business is over 60+ years with manufacturing plants in Macherla & Mukthyala in the state Andhra Pradesh with captive supply of high grade limestone and producing a combined annual capacity of 2.2 million tons of the finest quality premium grade cement in India.\

  • Primarily used in building foundations structures like Columns, Beams, Slab and other concrete structures and hence popularly called Concrete Cement.
              KCP Cement is sold in India in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa. We also export cement to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Myanmar. 
             A Greenfield plant setup in 2011 is one of India’s most modern, highly automated, cost efficient and Eco Friendly plant with an annual capacity 1.86 m tons expandable to 3 m tons.

5. Understood how does the product of the power plant is interfaced to the world.

7.National & International Quality standards maintained.



·        The Department of Economics of Maris Stella College, organized a one day State Level Inter Collegiate Competitions “SAMPADA – 2K17” on January 25th 2017 .  The motive of this programme is to provide a platform to young students in the knowledge based society.  The academic arena is growing with more and more dynamism and intensified competition which demands cross functional competence.
The events of the competition are

LACE PARK, NARASAPUR, WEST GODAVARI DISTRICT:
When India is under the British Colonial Rule, the British selected this coastal belt for Trade and Commerce and they established this skill based lace industry for the empowerment of women.  Later it was transformed into one of the world’s famous lace park ‘ALANKRITI’ in the year 2000.  It is an Irish Art which is providing livelihood initiating from 20,000  to 2,00,000 women.  They  are also providing health insurance to the employees and their family members.  The world famous products from this lace industry are table mats, floor mats diwan sets, door curtains, tops, lace cardigans, lace short sleeve tops, lace long skirts, kurtas, shrugs, hand bags,  stoles and all varieties of kids wear which are being exported to Swedan and other foreign countries especially during summer. The raw material is supplied from Pali, Rajasthan.  Threads are available in Tanuku. It the best established Women’s Self Help Group providing empowerment and employability to rural women. 




LEARNING OUTCOMES
The visit generally consists of lectures about the industry given by Mr. Nagabhushanam Naidu, the Project Director, Handicrafts, Alankriti Lace Park, Narasapur.  The learning outcomes from his lecture, which our students observed in the industry are -

1. Recognized the process units in lace industry

2. Identified input and output for the process.
3. Experienced the importance of working safety.
4. Understood the concept of lace preparation, generation of output.
5. Understood how does the product interfaced to the world through exports
6. It was extended to Krishna and East Godavari Districts also.

2017-18


“WORLD POPULATION DAY” was observed on 11th July by the department of Economics. On this day students presented PPTs, Elocution ,  Drawing  and Painting Competitions conducted on Population explosion.

2. GUEST LECTURE
The  department has arranged a guest lecture on 25th July 2017 for BA & M.A. students.

Topic: GST-impact on Indian economy.
Resource person: Prof. C.S.N Raju ,Retired Head, Department of Economics, ANU.

3.    LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP

A  Two day leadership training camp for students was organized by  Department  jointly with M.R Pai foundation Mumbai.

The topics are
 Communication skills,
 Self esteem,
 Goal setting,
Time management and
Team work.


 Resource persons are Mr.SachinKamat and Mrs.ClarissaJathana.
Chief Guest for this program is Dr. Illa Ravi, AGO, CCE Govt. Of Andhra Pradesh.

 The P.G. department of economics has arranged an awareness camp on literacy by     celebrating world literacy day on 8th September 2017.

Chief guest for the programme is Smt. Nannapaneni Raja kumari, Chairperson, Mahila Human Rights Commission ,AP.
BA students portrayed a skit on the importance of literate family.

On 23rd September 2017 jointly with forum of free enterprise Mumbai, The department has conducted 53rd A.D Shroff memorial Elocution competition for BA students.

   GUEST LECTURE 30.06.2018  
The Department has organized a guest lecture on Indian Economy
Planning – Niti Aayog to all B.A. and M.A.  Students. 
Resource Person was Dr. C. Srinivasa Rao, Government Degree 
College, Pamarru.

“WORLD POPULATION DAY” was observed on11th July 2018 by the 
department of Economics. On this day the department conducted Drawing  
and Painting Competitions to the Girl students of  X standard in and around 
Vijayawada on Population explosion. And Elocution Competitions were 
conducted to Degree and Intermediate Students with themes Children by 
Choice Not By Chance, Small Family Happy Family, Gender Population 
Issues. Prizes were given to winners.
On 18.08.2018jointly with forum of free enterprise Mumbai, the 
department has conducted 54th A.D Shroff memorial Elocution competition 
for BA students.

The department has arranged an awareness camp on literacy by      
celebrating world literacy day on 6th September 2018.
Chief guest for the programme is Dr. Chukka Kondaiah, OSD, AP Skill 
Development Corporation, Govt of Andhra Pradesh.

BA students portrayed a skit on the importance of literate family.
Elocution, Essay writing and Poster Making Competitions were conducted 
to Inter, Degree and PG Students on the topics Girl Child Education, Beti 
Bachao and Beti Padhao, Literacy and Skill Development.

 A  Two day leadership training camp for students was organized by  
Department  jointly with M.R Pai foundation Mumbai.

The department has arranged a workshop for final year B.A. and M.A. 
students on    UPSC, APPSC and Competitive Exams by PAVAN KUMAR’S 
IAS INDIA’S LEADING IAS INSTITUTE.

PG Department of Economics celebrated Silver Jubilee of PG Economics Section in collaboration with PG English on 5th and 6th March, 2019 and organized a Two - Day National Conference on the topic Skills Set through Education: Experiments & Explorations.
